The Country (as opposed to the City)

January 4, 2009

The Country – full of backward, under-educated, sister-shagging dolts, right?

Why is this stereotype so popular amongst the slave-to-fashion, drug-reliant, rat-race, sitcom-hypnotised yuppies of the City ghettoes?

Since when did the ‘live to work’ culture of the City become superior to the ‘work to live’ culture of the Country?

I have doubts about City elitism; it as a product of a technocratic, utilitarian, consumerist culture that is captive to the dictates of industry. It’s a sham.

In my experience, the existential angst of a yuppie’s ‘dark night of the soul’ can help grow sympathy for country living.
